Logging into SSH

How to Connect to Your VPS via SSH?​

Windows Installation​

  1. Download PuTTY.
  2. Launch the program.
  3. In the „Host Name” field, enter your server’s IP address, which you received in the email.
  4. Click the „Open” button.
  5. The server will ask for a login; type „root” and press „ENTER”.
  6. Enter the password you received in the email (you can copy and paste it by right-clicking).
WARNING:

For security reasons, the password will not be displayed. After entering it, press ENTER.

macOS Installation​

  1. Open Terminal on your macOS device.
  2. In Terminal, enter the command:
ssh root@server_address
  1. Replace server_address with the IP address you received in the email.
  2. The server will ask for a password; enter the password you received in the email.

Congratulations! ❤️ You are now logged into SSH!

Basic SSH Commands​

  1. Navigate to a chosen directory, e.g., cd /home/ moves to the /home/ directory.
cd path
  1. Launch the nano text editor to edit a file.
    To save and exit: press CTRL+X, then Y, and then ENTER.
nano <filename>
  1. List files and directories in the current directory.
ls
